I am Aybuke. I am a Lecturer/Assistant Professor at the Institute of Polytechnic Science and Aeronautics (IPSA). I love teaching, technology, and solving real-world problems using data mining and AI.
Biography
Earlier, I worked as a Data Scientist in a Fintech start-up. I worked in the domain of natural language processing (NLP) by performing sentiment analysis using data from social media related to political leaders. I have also led a project to model machine learning methods to estimate economic inflation for various countries.
I received my Ph.D. (2018) in computer science from the Université Lumiere Lyon 2, Lyon, France. I was involved in a multi‐disciplinary research project funded by Rhône‐Alpes Region (ARC 5). This research work was also a part of the “POMEDOR” project, which is funded by the French National Research Agency.
Moreover, my Ph.D. research project was a collaborative work between laboratory ERIC (Entrepôts, Représentation et Ingénierie des Connaissances) and laboratory ArAr (Archéologie et Archéométrie) of University of Lyon 2. The project involves the application of computer science in digital humanities. The aim of the project was to make use of the real‐world archaeology and archaeometry data and provide support to archaeologists and archaeological scientists for accessing better information, expanding their knowledge, and analyzing complex data, which is composed of textual, numerical, and multimedia parameters. I mainly worked on unsupervised methods, especially topics on finding the number of clusters automatically and evaluating the quality of fuzzy clusters.
I received my MSc. degree (2013) in computing science from Umea University, Sweden. During my MSc. program, I also did a research and development (R&D) internship (April 2013 - August 2013) at the Xerox Research Centre Europe, France. I also was a R & D intern (January 2012 - June 2012) at Qatar Computing Research Institute, Qatar.
During my bachelor's (2005-2010) in computer engineering at Atılım University, Turkey, I received the prestigious Erasmus scholarship to study one semester (January 2009 - July 2009) at Roskilde University, Denmark. In addition, I also did my bachelor internships at Meteksan A.S. and Servus A.S. in Ankara, Turkey.
